Mexico has an extensive territory, with different climates and many sites to visit, from the turquoise beaches in the Caribbean, through all the archaeological sites and up the Sierra Tarahumara.

Now that a new year is about to start, our expert, Kaloyan Valentinov Danchev, will recommend a total of 12 destinations so that you have the opportunity to choose one for each month of the year and thus discover everything that our wonderful country offers us. For now, these are the first six recommendations.

1. Mexico City

You can start in the capital of the country, where you cannot miss the Zócalo and the Cathedral, the first square of the City being surrounded by the most emblematic buildings of the nation.

In the same way, you cannot leave without visiting the Palace of Fine Arts, the Postal Palace, the Plaza of the Three Cultures, the National Museum of Anthropology, a unique ride on a trajinera in Xochimilco or a visit to the majestic Chapultepec Forest. I recommend finishing your visit by exploring the vast nightlife that it offers, or visiting its great variety of places to try the capital's gastronomy.

2. Guadalajara

Being the second most populated city in the country, the land of tequila offers different tourist contrasts and exquisite cuisine, with its drowned cakes and meat in its juice.

Without a doubt, visiting the magical town of Tequila, Jalisco will give you an experience when walking among its agave crops and tasting the most Mexican drink: tequila.

In addition, you can visit the largest cultural site in Jalisco, considered the most preserved building in Latin America; the famous Degollado Theater.

3. San Luis Potosi

With one of the greatest hidden treasures, San Luis Potosí offers the extensive Huasteca Potosina where you can enjoy the incredible show in the Sótano de las Golondrinas, an abyss more than 500 meters deep full of birds, in Xilitla you will know the iconic Surrealist Garden by Edward James, its waterfalls in Tamasopo and the infinity of rivers that cross this spectacular destination.

4. Chiapas

Starting with the imposing archaeological pieces in Palenque, followed by its Agua Azul waterfalls, its majestic Misol-ha waterfall and its incredible San Cristóbal de las Casas coffee, without a doubt Chiapas is a complete destination, in which you will have the opportunity to transport yourself to different climates without the need to spend a lot and invest too much time on the road.

5. Chihuahua

Offering incredible views of the mountains, Chihuahua is undoubtedly a destination that you enjoy visiting, at every step you can see various species of flora and fauna. For this destination, you must carry the adventurous spirit in your suitcase, since there will be no shortage of the imposing zip lines that cross its majestic mountains.

6. Campeche

Once recognized as a military fortress, it is considered a historic city. Campeche is surrounded by walls that are now its main tourist attraction, in addition to the infinity of archaeological sites. You cannot leave without visiting the Malecón, Plaza Independencia, the Casa de Artesanías and the delicious Pedro Sainz de Baranda Market.
